This very hardy variety offers two other attributes; disease resistance and large berries. The thorn-less blackberry ripens for about one month from the end of July through August. They yield large, glossy black, sweet, aromatic, firm fruit for fresh eating, pies, jams, or freezing.\u00a0 Estimated Fruit Yield: up to 30 pounds per mature cane. They fruit on two-year-old canes. The first year they produce long canes which I tie to a trellis at 6 feet as shown above. After tying it to the trellis, I cut the growing tip. This will cause the canes to produce lateral shoots that I prune to two to three feet to manage the width of the row. They establish quickly and are hardy for this area. Plant three to four feet apart in full sun.
