Privet Common

This fast-growing, bushy, deciduous shrub has lance-shaped, dark green leaves and small, white flowers in early summer. The blossoms are very fragrant. They produce small, glossy berries which ripen to black in the fall and remain on the branches throughout winter. The Common Privet is a popular choice as an ornamental shrub or hedgerow. It grows to 10-15 Ft. tall and 8-15 ft. wide. It does best in full sun or part shade in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils. It is drought tolerant and can be pruned to any desired shape. Prune it immediately after flowering.
